GTA 6 roleplay servers will not be available at launch. Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19, 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only, and the big GTA RP communities run on PC. Here is what we know about the future of GTA RP.
What is GTA RP?
GTA RP (roleplay) means playing on community servers where everyone acts out a character: cops, medics, criminals, business owners. In GTA 5 it runs through modified PC servers, mostly built with FiveM, and became one of the biggest categories on Twitch.
Rockstar owns the makers of FiveM
In 2023 Rockstar Games announced that Cfx.re, the team behind FiveM and RedM, had officially joined Rockstar. That turned the roleplay platform for GTA 5 into an official part of the company. Rockstar has not announced what this means for GTA 6.
Why GTA 6 RP has to wait
- No PC version announced: FiveM-style servers run on PC. See is GTA 6 coming to PC.
- Single-player at launch: Rockstar calls GTA 6 a single-player experience, see does GTA 6 have online.
- GTA 5 RP continues: existing roleplay servers keep running on GTA 5 in the meantime.
What GTA 6 could bring to roleplay
Features Rockstar has confirmed for GTA 6 sound made for roleplay: a map twice the size of GTA 5 with more interiors, the Heat system where police recognize you by your looks, realistic NPCs and dozens of activities. That is our view, not an announcement.
