This policy explains how GTA Update chooses, checks, writes and corrects its GTA 6 coverage. Last updated: October 16, 2026.
Who is responsible
Editor-in-chief James Lindberg is responsible for everything published on GTA Update. You can reach him at info@gta-update.com.
Sources
- Primary sources: Rockstar Games (rockstargames.com, Newswire and official social channels), Take-Two Interactive investor material, and the PlayStation, Xbox and Microsoft stores.
- Secondary sources: established gaming outlets. We link to them and credit them when we use their reporting.
- Community sources: forums, wikis, Reddit and data miners are treated as leads, never as proof. We only report them with a clear reliability label.
Rumor ratings
Every leak or rumor is labeled Confirmed (Rockstar or Take-Two said it), Likely (several independent, credible sources), Unverified (one source, not yet backed up) or False (debunked). When the status changes, we update the article and log the result on our corrections and rumor results page.
How we use AI
We are open about it: GTA Update uses AI tools in its newsroom. AI helps us spot new stories from official sources, summarize them, and write a first draft. AI also checks drafts against our rules for sources, rumor labels and headlines.
- AI never decides what is true. Facts must come from a named, linked source.
- Our editor-in-chief is accountable for every article, AI-assisted or not, monitors what goes live and steps in when something is wrong.
- We do not use AI-generated images to show the game. Images come from Rockstar Games or from credited sources.
- We do not invent quotes, people, dates or numbers. If something is unknown, we say so.
- When an AI-assisted article contains an error, we correct it like any other article.
Images and video
We use official Rockstar Games artwork and screenshots for news reporting and commentary, always credited. Videos are embedded from YouTube with the player of the original channel, so creators keep their views. If you own an image and want it credited differently or removed, email us and we will act within 48 hours.
Corrections
Found a mistake? Email info@gta-update.com with the link. We fix factual errors as quickly as possible, add a note to the article when the change matters, and record it on the corrections page.
Independence, ads and affiliate links
GTA Update is an unofficial fan site and is not affiliated with Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive. We may earn money from ads and affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate, GTA Update earns from qualifying purchases. Affiliate and sponsored links are marked as such and never influence our reporting. We do not accept payment for coverage.
Updates and dates
Every article shows when it was published and when it was last updated. Guides and hub pages are updated as Rockstar shares new information.
