GTA 6 unlock time FAQ
What time does GTA 6 unlock?
On PS5 and Xbox, GTA 6 is listed to unlock at midnight local time on November 19, 2026 in most countries. The first players start in New Zealand at 11:00 UTC on November 18; Mexico and Central America are last at 06:00 UTC on November 19.
What time does GTA 6 unlock in the US?
In the United States GTA 6 is listed to unlock at the same moment everywhere: 12:00 a.m. Eastern Time on November 19, which is 11:00 p.m. Central, 10:00 p.m. Mountain and 9:00 p.m. Pacific on November 18.
What time does GTA 6 unlock in the UK?
In the UK, Ireland and Portugal GTA 6 is listed to unlock at 12:00 a.m. GMT on November 19, 2026. In most of Western and Central Europe it unlocks one hour earlier in UTC terms, at midnight CET.
When can I preload GTA 6?
Rockstar says digital pre-orders can start preloading at local midnight on November 12, 2026, one week before launch.
Can I play GTA 6 early with a New Zealand account?
Not reliably. A PlayStation account region cannot be changed, so you would need a separate New Zealand account and payment method, and physical PlayStation codes must match your account region.
Has Rockstar confirmed these unlock times?
Not with an official schedule. The times come from the PlayStation Store and Xbox Store listings. Sony, Microsoft or Rockstar can still change them before launch, and we update this page if they do.
How the GTA 6 unlock works
GTA 6 does not unlock at one moment worldwide. On the PlayStation Store and the Xbox Store, the game is listed to unlock at midnight local time on November 19, 2026 in most regions. That means players in New Zealand start first, and players in Mexico and Central America start last, 19 hours later.
Some large countries use one moment for the whole country. In the United States and Canada the game unlocks at midnight Eastern Time, which is 9:00 p.m. on November 18 on the West Coast. Australia follows Sydney time, so Perth unlocks at 9:00 p.m. local time.
Preload first, so you can play the second it unlocks
Rockstar says digital pre-orders can preload from midnight local time on November 12. The physical Standard Edition contains a download code, not a disc, so you still need to download the game. Our GTA 6 launch checklist walks you through everything to do before launch night.
