The GTA 6 launch trailer arrived on October 15, 2026, when Rockstar Games released the 90-second Grand Theft Auto VI Launch Trailer on its Newswire and YouTube with no advance teaser. It lands five weeks before the November 19 release on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
According to Rockstar’s Newswire post, the trailer features new music from Justice. PlayStationInfo reports that Rockstar says the footage was captured on a PS5.
When was the GTA 6 launch trailer released?
Rockstar published the GTA 6 launch trailer on October 15, 2026, and it runs about 90 seconds. It was a surprise drop, with no teaser beforehand.
You can watch it through Rockstar’s Newswire post and on Rockstar’s YouTube channel. The title alone, Launch Trailer, points to the start of the final public push toward release.
Kotaku also notes the trailer arrived without teasing and runs 90 seconds. Vice describes it as the third GTA VI trailer. If you want to compare every official video, our all GTA 6 trailers hub tracks the full rollout.
What is new in the GTA 6 launch trailer?
The trailer adds more story context for Jason and Lucia. Jason explains his trouble with the army, and Lucia is shown making a call from jail.
Kotaku highlights Jason explaining his army trouble. Vice points to Jason’s army past and Lucia’s jail call as the key story beats. The trailer also includes new scenes from Vice City and Leonida.
Those are small details, but they are the kind of character hooks that start to define a campaign before release. Rockstar is clearly putting the two leads front and center, not just the scale of the map.
If you want to keep the character side straight before launch, our Jason and Lucia guide tracks what Rockstar has actually shown so far.
What music is in the GTA 6 launch trailer?
The GTA 6 launch trailer features new music from Justice. Rockstar names the single as “Flower in a Hurricane,” featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.
Justice are also the composers of the original score for Grand Theft Auto VI. That ties the trailer’s sound directly to the game’s broader music identity.
According to Rockstar, the single is on Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album. The album is open for pre-save, and vinyl and CD pre-orders are available through gtavi-thealbum.com.
Rockstar has promised more music information. Until then, there is no confirmed album release date or tracklist to report.
Was the GTA 6 launch trailer captured on PS5?
PlayStationInfo reports that Rockstar states the footage was captured entirely on PS5. We could not confirm that exact wording ourselves, so treat it as a report for now.
If accurate, it is encouraging for anyone planning to play on Sony’s console. It does not settle every performance question, though.
It does not confirm final performance modes or resolution targets. It also says nothing about how the Xbox Series X|S version will compare, or what PS5 Pro options may look like.
Treat the PS5 capture note as a quality marker, not a technical breakdown. Final settings and platform comparisons still need official confirmation.
When can you play GTA 6 after this trailer?
Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Ynetnews reports that digital pre-orders can preload from November 12, so check Rockstar’s pre-order details for the final word.
There is still no official PC date. The GTA 6 launch trailer does not change that.
The practical takeaway is simple for console players. Watch for preload access around November 12, and make sure your system has enough free storage before launch week.
We track platform timing and the preload window in our GTA 6 release date and preload details hub. Keep it handy as Rockstar gets more specific.
What does the launch trailer mean for players?
The trailer kicks off the final marketing push. With five weeks to go, expect more promotion from here.
Kotaku says the trailer will likely play on TV and in theaters. That is an expectation, not a confirmed media plan from Rockstar.
The August An Extended Look presentation remains the deepest gameplay look so far. Rockstar says it premiered Thursday, August 27, at 3 p.m. ET on Netflix and Rockstar’s YouTube, and Ynetnews describes it as nearly 27 minutes long.
So the GTA 6 launch trailer is not replacing that longer showcase. It reminds everyone who Jason and Lucia are and puts the November 19 date back in front of players.
Before launch, the big things to watch are unlock times, preload size and more information on the music and score. If you are set on playing day one, the smartest move is boring but useful: free up storage now.
